A Mate's Bite ~ Review & Exclusive Interview with Milly

Blurb
Mission: Don’t fall in love

After an explosive night of passion during a scenting ceremony, Karla Alves is sure she was just a one night stand for the man she'd been crushing on for years. She teased him and pleased him, and Nate hasn't been around since. Her fear of becoming clingy kept her from risking her heart and asking for more than a few hours of skin sin.

Mission: Crack her walls

She. Is. His. Nathan Wolfe marked Karla. His mate. Deeply involved in pack politics, Nate has had to stay away. When his sister warns that Karla needs him more than he thinks, he'll discover a bundle of secrets only his wolf can sniff out. But getting the woman he cares about to let down her guard may prove to be his undoing.

Mission: Embrace the bite

With Karla's wayward sister wreaking havoc and friends needing more of his time than ever, Nate will have to rearrange his priorities if he ever hopes to earn Karla's trust. But will time with her be enough? Only true love and a wolf's promise can hold together a relationship created with a bite, a scenting, and a hope for tomorrow.

Excerpt
“Emma, I don’t think she really cares what color of blue you pick.” Karla tried to keep the bite from her words, but her OCD friend was getting on her last nerve.
It had been like this for an hour. One frickin’ hour of them staring at decorations. All for a bridal shower for their friend Jordan. Aric, hunky leader of the Sexy Four, finally popped the question, and she’d said yes. Not that it came as a surprise to anyone. The way poor Jordan went beet red whenever they spoke of Aric was a major indicator she had more than the hots for Ellie’s oldest brother. But now they were in a scramble to do things in a matter of days. The couple had decided they’d marry ASAP, which played havoc on Emma’s planning tendencies. Her very annoying bossy tendencies. And it meant Karla was going to have to plan the bridal shower with Nicole, or she’d end up stabbing one of her closest friends with the pretty pen she had in her hand.
“No, it has to be perfect.” Emma frowned while tracing the lines of the lace overlay she wanted to use on the reception tables.
That’s it. She couldn’t do this. There was too much other shit on her mind. Mainly, on the frustrating Nathan Wolfe. Stupid man. And why was she letting the fact that he wasn’t around annoy her? Just because they had sex—hold it. They hadn’t had sex. They’d had toe-curling, skin-biting orgasms. And now that she thought about it, her body heated with memories.
Fucking Spot.
Almost three weeks since the day of the scenting ceremony, and she’d seen him only one time at a barbecue his parents held for Jordan and Aric. And her mind and heart could do nothing but miss him. Their promise to see each other had been thwarted by multiple issues concerning Jordan and then Ellie. Then Nate had ended up leaving to help Caleb and “tomorrow” had turned into “someday." Not that she could ever be angry with her friends. It wasn’t their fault all kinds of crap had taken place. She loved them and was happy things had finally calmed a bit. But it saddened her that what had been something she’d looked forward to had disintegrated before it started.
“Okay, Emma. This is what’s going to happen,” Karla turned toward the drill sergeant with a soothing smile, “you’re going to go off and take care of all those wedding details you need to and leave this to me and Nic. We’ll handle all of it. Alone.” She tugged the fabric out of Emma’s hands with force, all the while clenching her back teeth. Emma’s grip didn’t budge. Karla tugged again and became woozy with the quick moment. The room spun for a nanosecond before righting itself. Another tug and Emma released the material. Karla wasn’t a violent person, normally, but Emma could drive a saint to murder.
Emma’s brows shot up, and her pretty hazel eyes went wide. “Are you sure? I thought you didn’t like having to decide on this kind of stuff.”
She took a breath and held it before slowly letting it out. She really needed to calm down. And stop thinking about Nathan. “No, honey. You don’t like giving me a chance to make any decisions. But as of right now, I’m releasing you from this task. I’ll handle it.”

Review:

This is the best shifter series I've read!! Nate is such a loving and patient man. Karla has never trusted men. Her mother saw to that. But Nate is unlike any man she's known. His loyalty to his family and friends has her questioning her stand on men. Nate knows Karla is his mate. Now he just has to convince her of that.

With the back drop of pack a possible pack war Nate and Karla have to find their way through, especially when Karla's twin sister gets into the mix.

As with all Milly's books the sex scenes are hot!! I also love seeing the other characters from the first book. I can't wait to read the next installment!!

4 Stars!!!

Exclusive Interview with Milly!

Thank you for being here with us today!!  Just so you know your wolves are my favorites
Thank you for having me!  I love wolves so glad others do too!

What got you into writing paranormal?
I love paranormal.  It's a genre that really allows me to let my imagination run wild. I can create characters that look like regular people but have a depth of emotions. Their abilities are beyond the human and that makes it more interesting.

Why stay independent? I know you’ve had offers with publishers.
I am a control freak.  I like knowing I'm in charge of everything from edits to format to cover. I especially like getting paid for all my hard work without a middle man. Indie is tough but I feel it's worth it.

Which of your characters is your favorite?
I couldn't tell you.  They all are. But maybe my newest one since it's the one I'm closest to right now.

When writing your men, what is their most important characteristic?
For them to be real. The men in my mind have insecurities but are thoughtful alphas. They're strong and to me have some of the best things we love in men.

Same question for the women
Women are easier. They are women we can relate to.  They have issues but are strong. They are as real as any woman out there.

Where do you write?
We have a bedroom which is like a giant closet filled with stuff and I have my desk and stuff in there. I need quiet to write so I like that spot.

Do you plot each book before you start writing?
Mentally I play it like a movie. Then I write ideas and then a loose outline. Then I go to work lol

You and I met at an author signing and I had a great time sitting next to you.  Where will you be signing this year so my readers can get out and meet your awesomeness?
Aw thanks! I loved meeting you and spending time together :)
I'll be going to Lori Fosters RAGT (Reader Author Get Together) in June in Cincinnati
Authors After Dark (AAD) in August in North Carolina.
Not sure where else since I'm working with vacation days from work and family stuff.

What’s in the pipeline that we can get excited about?
Currently I have Dangerous Protector (book 2 in the Federal Paranormal Unit) coming in March I hope.
Another Wounded Soldier short in February.
After that it's open to whatever I can put together.

Thanks so much for your time.  I can’t wait for your next release!
Thanks for having me Jill!

Author Bio
Hi! I'm Milly (AKA April Angel) I love to write sexy stories. They're usually either paranormal or contemporary with a large dose of heat. My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. My contemporaries are usually anything from soldiers to corporate romances.
I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog "Needy Speedy". Don't ask.
When I'm not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I'm not doing that, I'm usually writing because the voices won't shut up.
I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn't, right?) and Dunkin' Donuts coffee.
Come on over and visit me! I love to meet new readers!
