Review:
Kingsley is a dancer. She's studying at Julliard. She's been seeing Wren for a few months. It's just sex. Right?
Kingsley grew up in the foster care system. She has no idea who her real parents are. She doesn't get close to anyone, she learned her lesson when she was 14.
Wren is the guy that breaks that rule. He loves her and Kingsley finds herself in a new situation. She loves him back. But she can't admit it. The last time she loved someone her whole life was turned upside down so her number one rule: Love No One. But Wren still pushes his way into her heart. Now she just has to figure out a way to share her feelings.
We are taken through Kingsley's life through flashbacks to her childhood. To a time where her foster parents hid her in the basement. She was beaten and starved but the one thing she thought she had was Parker. He loved her and she loved him. But Parker is also the reason Kinglsey can't love again.
This book is part of a series and I had not read the first book, In The Air, but I find myself wanting to read more by this author. While there are scenes of abuse, they are not graphic but still powerful. You feel Kingsley's anguish in her early years. Wren has also been hurt in the past but he is aching for Kinsley's love. He pushes her to admit her feelings and it is good for us to see Kingsley's growth. I found the ending a little abrupt and wish it would have given us a little more. I would love to know where they go from here.
