Double Alchemy ~ Climax by Susan Mac Nicol Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway

Double Alchemy - Climax (Book 2)
Susan Mac Nicol
Climax - Cover
Genre: Paranormal M/M
synopsis
Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear. A BLINDING LIGHT It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston. Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.

My Review:
Can I tell you how much I love these two characters??  Quinn is this alpha male warlock that just melts when he gets next to Cade.  Cade is a man learning to deal not only with the magical world that Quinn has introduced him to but also his own Sprite heritage. He loves Quinn deeply and tries to support him even when he learns things Quinn has done that leave him uneasy.

Unfortunately for these two life is never simple. The witch hunter is still on the loose and now there is evidence he is channeling his ancestor and trying to bring him back to life. Witches and warlocks are both dying and Quinn will have to face not only the enemy but also an old flame.

This is one of those stories that just pulls you into a different world and you find yourself looking up hours later to wonder where the time has gone. Ms Mac Nicol weaves the story full of love.  The supporting characters are each well thought out and bring a realism into a fantasy world.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I will be sitting on the edge of my seat until I can get it in my hands!

EXCERPT
“Tell me again why you can’t stay?” Tristan says as we stand in front of the elevator. “Because it’s just not a good idea. And I don’t have anything to wear.” “Actually, you do,” he says. “Mrs. Naven found some things in the laundry after you left. Problem solved.” He takes both my hands and backs up into the sitting room. “Tristan, we still have some things to sort out. Tonight was great, but I still don’t think I’m cut out to be your submissive.” “Just my submissive?” I drop my head. “No. Anyone’s.” “You’re afraid you’ll have panic attacks again, aren’t you?” I feel like I’m about to be swallowed up by the sincere blue eyes tracking and pinning mine so effectively I can’t look away. “Yes. And I’m no use to you if I can’t endure the scenes, particularly the occasional disciplinary consequences.” “What if there was a way you could?” His finger traces a gentle path down my cheek. “What do you mean?” “Just what I said. If there was a way we could work around the panic attacks, would you come back? For good?” “You mean until you perfect your exit strategy? That’s what you venture capitalists call it, don’t you?” “Ah, someone’s been paying attention at our semiannual business meetings?” “I have a rather exacting mentor who insists on being heard.” “Asshole,” he says and pulls me close. I place my hands on his chest in an effort to sustain some emotional equilibrium, but he doesn’t let me go. “I’m the one who’ll be ass-out when you lose confidence in your investment and decide it’s time to diversify your portfolio again.” “I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon, Keisha.” He draws me closer, palming my hips, and I get his point. Pun intended. “I can’t seem to get enough of you.” I slip out of his arms and put some space between us. “Chemistry has never been an issue for us, Tristan. I know your lifestyle is important to you, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up.” The truth is, I’m hopelessly in love with a man who hasn’t given me any indication that he will ever want a real relationship. Nothing has changed on that front. He still just wants just a Dominant/submissive relationship, which might enjoy a longevity his other arrangements haven’t had, but it will eventually end. Can I really do this? I certainly don’t think I’ll become any less in love with him over time. Reentering a sexual relationship with Tristan now would be exceedingly counterproductive to the reasons I left in the first place, but I am hard-pressed to make myself walk away again. Tristan moves so close behind me that I can feel the warmth of his skin, his breath wafting over my ear as he speaks. “We’ll take things slow—again.” He runs a finger along my arm, and gooseflesh sprouts like ivy in its wake. I feel a pull toward him that can only be described as magnetic—my body eager to be reunited to his. Even though it could conceivably be more painful for me this time around, I’m not sure if leaving him again is within the realm of possibility. I can’t rationalize staying, but leaving becomes increasingly more difficult with each second I remain in his presence. I turn to face him. “Slow isn’t necessarily going to keep the attacks at bay.” Or guard my heart if he decides he’s done with me. “We’ll figure out a way to do that together.” He takes me into his arms again. “These three weeks have been ... just please stay.” I look into his eyes, and all I want to do at that moment is kiss him senseless. He may not have given me a declaration of love, but somehow I know this is as close as I’m going to get with a man like Tristan White. For now. As an answer, I stand on my tiptoes, throw my arms around his neck, and kiss him with everything in me. Tristan Keisha 4 (1)

I hear the first whisper as I pick up my bag to exit the locker room. “You know that’s the girl that got Dylan in trouble.” Closing my eyes, I try to force back the tears and control my emotions. They will not get the best of me.
When I walk past them, they stop talking. I stop and look at them and give them a dose of their own medicine. “Yeah, I am that girl. Got anything else you wanna know?” I say with my bag tossed over my shoulder and my arms crossed.
“We didn’t say anything,” one girl states with an eye roll.
“That’s what I thought.” I make my way back to the stands, placing my bag down and walking toward the pool. Tori and Georgia must see the heat rising in my face because they ask me what the hell just happened as soon as I meet them.
“Some Davidson bitches we’re running their traps already. So, I just asked if they had any more questions.”
Georgia laughs. “They are so in for it! Charley’s gonna kick their ass today in the water.”
“Damn right, I am,” I say as I dip my cap into the pool, place it on my head and add my goggles. It’s time to give them another reason to talk about Charley Anne Rice.

Intercepting Love by LP Dover Review & Giveaway

Synopsis

Both have what she wants … but only one has what she needs.

Working with professional athletes and helping them recover from their injuries has always been Kate Townsend’s dream, but after an accident left her scarred and heartbroken years ago she refuses to let what happened in her past happen again. Staying focused is the key, as well as not letting her feelings interfere with her job … no matter the circumstances. All of that is easier said than done when not only one, but two men crave her healing touch, igniting every single desire she’s denied herself for so long.

Cooper Davis, NFL’s star quarterback and most eligible bachelor, packs up and leaves his home to move across the states to the East Coast after an injury results in the embarrassing trade to another team. Bitter from the pain, he deals with his problems through drugs and alcohol—almost ruining his football career—until he meets the one woman who makes him want to feel; the same woman who refuses to give up on him no matter how many times he screws up. He has to have her, and he’s not going to stop until he makes her his. Especially, now that someone else threatens to take her away.

Motocross champion and local bad boy Luke Collins never takes no for an answer. For the past four months he’s used his charms to get what he wants, and now he’s so close to getting the girl of his dreams … if she’ll give in just once. One time is all he needs, and he’s never been known to fail, but he’s also never had to fight for a woman’s affections. Only one man will win their way into Kate’s heart, but which one will intercept the other and take what they want? Which one will she choose?

My Review:
Oh Cooper Davis!!!  One hot quarterback!!  But he hasn't had an easy life. His mother is the biggest BITCH you've ever met; and she has ruled Cooper's life. Telling him he's not good enough, he's a disgrace to his family, making him turn to alcohol and drugs after an injury. His man-whoring ways on full display for paparazzi. Now his team doesn't want him, the only team he can play for is his uncle's team all the way across the country. A team that has no chance at the playoffs, much less the Superbowl. But if Cooper can get his life back that might change.

Kate Townsend wanted to be a doctor for most of her life. Her fiance taking his own life ended that dream for her. Months away from graduation her life changed and the guilt of what happened still haunts her. Well her own guilt as well as the accusations hurled at her from his family. She hasn't had a relationship with a man since, but she has decided that it's time to move on. Now her brother's best friend Luke wants to be the one to open her back up to life. Unfortunately for Luke, Cooper Davis waltzes in and sweeps Kate off her feet.

Now the fight for Kate takes a nasty turn. Notes left on Cooper's car. His tires being slashed. Is it Luke or is there someone else trying to get between Kate and Cooper?

I totally enjoyed this book! It was a fast read that kept me totally engaged. If you like Hot athletic men than you need to read this book!

Teaser 1:

We pulled into the parking lot of the practice field and I shut off my car, the tension in the air crackling like fire. When I turned to look at her, it was like her stormy gray gaze could see right through me. There were a shit ton of things I wanted, but nothing as much as leaning forward to kiss those lips of hers.

With her breaths coming fast and low, she licked her dry lips and shook her head. “Cooper, we can’t.”

Bending over the center console, I glanced down at her lips and murmured low, “Yes we can, Kate, and I’m going to make sure we do.”

Teaser 2:

Taking my elbow, Cooper guided me to his car and opened the door. “I’m not worried about your brother, Kate. I’m not going to do anything to you unless you ask me to.”

“Like what?” I asked coyly.

Shielded from view by the car door, Cooper leaned in and brought his lips closer to mine, opening them slightly. I couldn’t move, but then again … I didn’t want to. Instead of kissing me, he murmured across my lips, “I’m sure you’ll figure that out when the time comes. If you want me to kiss you, I’m not going to do it until you place your soft lips on mine first. If you want me to touch you, I’m not going to unless you beg me for it. It’s all on you now, love.”

Teaser 3:

“In your eyes I see exactly what I want. You’re not here with me because of my money or because of what I do. You actually see the people you’re around and the goodness inside of them. That is what gives me hope.”

“Hope for what?” I asked breathlessly, mesmerized.

He brushed my hair away from my face and smoothed his thumb along my jaw. “Hope that one day you will see in my eyes what I see in yours. There’s a craving deep inside of you that I can see each time I touch you. It burns brighter every single time. I’ve never seen that with anyone, and that is how I know I have a chance.”

Teaser 4:

“You don’t have to worry about him making the moves on me, Luke. He said he wouldn’t touch me unless I asked him to. I think we’re both safe.”

Placing his hands against the wall, Luke trapped me in and murmured in my ear, “Hmm … he’s better than I thought. You know he’s just playing games with you, right?”

“Everyone plays games in their own way, Luke. Even you do, but it’s not going to change anything,” I told him.

“Good,” he murmured huskily. “Although, I’d have to say that’s where me and him differ.” He trailed his finger down my cheek and past my neck to my collarbone. “I’d be afraid you would never ask me. That’s why I have to take what I want until you tell me no.”

Teaser 5:

Finally, Cooper gazed up at me, his eyes red and pained. “Please tell me you forgive me for this, Kate. You know I never wanted to hurt you.”

“I know, and there’s nothing to forgive,” I whispered, tears falling down my cheeks. “I’m so proud of you for pushing through it. I know it wasn’t easy.”

Nodding quickly, he got to his feet and pulled me over to my bed, holding my hands gently in his. With his weary gaze on my wrists, he thumbed the bruises gently and murmured, “Do you want to know why I don’t ever want to hurt you? Why it kills me that it was my hands that did this to you?”

“Why?” I whispered, holding my breath.

Sighing heavily, he lifted his gaze and placed both hands on my cheeks, wiping away my tears. “It’s because I love you, Kate, and people aren’t supposed to hurt the ones they love. The last thing I want is for you to hate me for what I did.”

The moon shone bright over a crystal clear lake. Thousands of stars were reflected, like floating diamonds sparkling. The breeze blew gently through red cedar, pine, and maple. The clean mountain air reminded him of camping with his family when he was a boy. It had been so long since he had the liberty, and desire, to enjoy nature. The water called to Devlin. Carefully, without a sound, he pulled the clothes from his body and placed them on the stump beside him. With a slow breath, he walked into the gentle ripples, creating larger crests of his own. Warm water greeted him. He dove under, swimming deeper. A splash caught Devlin’s attention. He broke the surface to find nothing, and no one. Closing his eyes, he reached out with his senses. A lone werewolf was close. Panic flared through him, and he started for the shore, but a woman surfaced before him. A slow smile spread on her face when he flailed back, splashing her in his surprise. “Your heart’s pounding.” Amusement sparkled in her pale blue topaz eyes as she placed one small hand over his chest. Warmth washed through him offering a calm he couldn’t remember ever feeling. Yet, he was terrified the Dales were tracking him. A dream, nothing more than a dream. They can’t find me, he reminded himself. “You startled me,” Devlin replied. “Hmm.” Her foot brushed against his calf, sending a shiver through his entire body. She tapped her finger to her chin. “You remind me of someone, but I can’t figure out who.” Intrigued, and certainly heading toward aroused, he asked, “What makes you say that?” One corner of her shiny pink mouth lifted impishly. “Don’t know, but you do.” Her voice had taken on a husky purr which effectively made his blood pump faster. A dream, just a dream, he told himself. Then he did something bold, something he hadn’t done in so long he was sure he’d fail, even in a fantasy. “What’s a sweet little wolf like you doing out here all alone?” Her giggle was melodic as her already dazzling eyes lit up. “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” As if on cue, his resistance broke. Her tiny waist fit perfectly in his hands, her hips flared in a way that made him groan. Devlin propelled them closer to the shore, until his feet touched bottom. Before he could make his move, her legs locked around his hips and her fingers caressed up his shoulder and neck to delve into his hair. She grazed her lips over his. Afraid to take things too far, he slid his hands up her back, pressing her full breasts against his chest. Needing more of her taste, he deepened their kiss. Devlin felt more alive than he could remember. A dream, just a blasted dream, his brain chimed in. The knowledge didn’t stop him from sweeping his tongue into her mouth when she opened to him. Her body undulated in tune with his, and her heated core slid against his hardened length. The urge to bury himself in her was too much. Pulling back, he panted, “Your name? Need your name, Precious.” “Precious?” She licked her lips as she stared back at him with something like awe in her big blue eyes. He tipped his forehead to hers and breathed in her wild but seductive scent. “You’ve set me free of my old life. You’ve given me something to look forward to.” He didn’t know where the words came from, but he didn’t dare take them back. They felt right. “Jamie Abrams. You better come to me.” There was a command hidden in her sweet sassy voice, one he truly wanted to obey. “I’ll be waiting.” He nodded, rolling her name through his head like a fine wine over his tongue.

Lana and Blake are finally together, trying to build a life. But Blake's world is so different from the one Lana is used to. And can Blake rule in his world when his heart and soul may be in danger? Victoria is still lurking in the shadows. Should Lana tell Blake she thinks Victoria is going to do something to break them up.

I love Lana and Blake together. We get to learn more about Blake and the life he's lived and what is expected of him. But with everything we learn there are still questions. What is this secret society he's part of and what has he had to do to get to where he is.

I totally enjoyed this series and cannot wait for the next book.

‘What about BDSM?  Are you going to teach me something about that?’
He looks at me over the rim of his glass.  ‘Why?  Are you interested in being a submissive?’
‘I don’t know.  I could be.  What is it?’
‘It’s a game.’
‘I like games.  Start me off and I’ll tell you if I like it.’
He stops smiling, his eyes change, darken.  Very deliberately he pushes his glass of orange juice to the middle of the table, reaches for the carton of milk and holding it right in front of him, slowly tips it sideways until the milk in it pours onto the table.  I watch the puddle grow on the table.  At some point well before the carton is empty he stops pouring.  I lift my eyes from the spill and look at him.  His eyes are expressionless, watchful.  The silence stretches.  I break it.  ‘Well?’
‘Clean it up,’ he says.
‘What?’
‘I don’t need to repeat myself, do I?  It is a punishable offense.’
For a moment I feel confused.  Was this the thing that has everybody hot up the collar?  Do I want to be his little slave?  The answer is obvious and immediate.  I don’t.  Definitely not.  But I’ll let it play a little more and see where this little game goes.  I turn towards the paper towels.
‘Not with the paper towel.’  His voice cracks like a whip.
I turn towards him slowly.   Our eyes clash, a look of impatience about his.  What does he want me to do?  Clean the table with my tongue?  The thought is unsexy, off-putting.  ‘With what, then?’
He leans back and folds his arms across his chest.  ‘With your sex.’
And suddenly I am wet.  The idea is shocking but incredibly, unbelievably erotic.  I hook my thumbs into the scrap of white lace around my hips, push it all the way down and step out of it.
‘Give them to me.’
I bend down to retrieve them and walk towards him.  I look into his eyes as I drop my bunched up knickers into his outstretched hand.  He puts them into his trouser pocket.
I hop onto the table with my legs apart so he can see what I am doing, I bend forward and flattening my thighs, slowly drag my sex across the liquid.  Something flashes in his eyes.  The milk is cold on my warm skin.  When I have swept myself across the spill I stop and look to him.
He nods slowly.  ‘You,’ he says, and there is a touch of admiration in his voice, ‘are an excellent pupil.  You never do more than what you are instructed to do.’
I say nothing.  Just hold myself in that position.
‘Now spread your legs,’ he orders.

Georgia Le Carre lives in England, in an old 19th century romantic cottage surrounded by a magical garden filled with fruit and walnut trees.  When she is not feeding words into her laptop, she is either curled up in bed with a box of chocolates and a good read, or lost in a long walk in the woods. Especially on moonlit nights.  And often with the man of her dreams.
